Every year, thousands of children in India go without the chance of an education or the possibility of a livelihood. Compounded by a population that runs to over a billion, we sometimes forget that children too have natural rights. These rights are supported by conventions all over the world, including The United Nations General Assembly, of which India is a member.

Children have the birthright to non-discrimination through education and development, and to essential best interests from society and adults.

Children have a voice which must be heard. While we may know of these rights, we do little in our individual capacities -- sometimes because we find so few avenues to help children directly. It is with this in mind that Jeevan was founded. Jeevan has been formalised as an NGO in late 2004 to help children avail of certain basic rights.

Over the next few years, Jeevan will sustain and help over a thousand disadvantaged children from all over India. Apart from children, Jeevan also seeks to help highly impoverished adults by supplying medicine and relevant care.

Jeevan also provides medical and social aid to special children with physical disabilities, like Prasad. This helps children and their families live better, well-adjusted lives.

The core philosophy that drives Jeevan is to provide immediate and essential relief as well as to bolster development that allows individuals to sustain themselves in the long run. As an NGO, Jeevan seeks to develop resources to help an increasing number of children, while maintaining a consistent level of quality in the years to come.
